How can we help? Answers for hirers and hire firms.
Booking, pricing, deposits, delivery and listing your fleet — pick a topic.
How does booking work?
Pick a machine and your dates, and send a request. The hire firm checks the machine is free and confirms — usually within minutes in working hours. You’re only charged once they’ve said yes.
Do I need a trade account?
No. There’s no account application and no credit check. Book with your email and pay by card.
What if the firm can’t do my dates?
They decline, you’re not charged, and you can request another machine straight away. A request nobody answers expires on its own — again, nothing is taken.
Can I cancel?
You can withdraw a request at any time before it’s confirmed, at no cost. Once it’s confirmed, the cancellation terms shown at checkout apply.
Can you book it all for me?
Yes. Tell us the job, your postcode and your dates, and we’ll line up the kit and send you one price to approve.
What’s in the price?
The total covers the hire for your dates, delivery and collection if you choose it, the damage waiver and VAT. Every line is shown before you send the request.
When is my card charged?
Only when the hire firm confirms your request — never when you send it.
Is VAT included?
The total includes VAT, shown in full. Day rates on machine cards are shown ex VAT, the way the trade quotes them.
Is there a booking fee?
No. The total is what you pay. We’re paid a commission by the hire firm, out of their hire price.
Will I get a VAT invoice?
Yes — one invoice for the whole hire, with VAT shown, so you can reclaim it if you’re VAT registered.
How does the deposit work?
It’s a hold on your card, not a charge, and it’s kept separate from the hire payment. It’s released when the machine comes back clean and the return photos are in.
What is the damage waiver?
A charge on every hire that limits what you pay if the machine is accidentally damaged while you have it. It’s itemised in your total, and what it covers is shown before you book.
Why the check-out and return photos?
Timestamped photos at handover and at return record the machine’s condition, and both you and the hire firm can see them. They settle damage questions quickly and fairly.
What if the machine breaks down?
Call the hire firm straight away — their details are on your booking. Faults that aren’t down to misuse are theirs to fix or swap.
Can it be delivered to site?
Most firms deliver and collect. Each machine shows its delivery options and fee, and the fee is in your total.
Can I collect it myself?
Where the firm offers it, yes. Check you have the right vehicle and licence to tow — a digger on a plant trailer usually needs a B+E entitlement.
Do I need a ticket to operate it?
You don’t need a licence to hire. You are responsible for making sure whoever operates the machine is competent, and many sites ask for a CPCS or NPORS card.
Where do you cover?
We’re signing up hire firms across the UK, town by town. Search your postcode to see what’s near you — if nothing’s local yet, tell us and we’ll prioritise your area.
What does it cost to list?
Nothing up front — no sign-up fee, no subscription, no listing fees. We take a commission on completed hires only.
How much is the commission?
A percentage of the hire value, agreed when you join. It’s shown on every request, next to your payout, before you accept.
Do I have to accept every request?
No. You see the dates, the site and your payout, then accept or decline. Declining costs you nothing.
When do I get paid?
Once the hire is fulfilled. Your payout — the hire value minus commission — goes to your bank through Stripe.
Who does the delivery?
You do, as you do today, at the delivery prices you set. We show them to the hirer and add them to the total.
What if a hirer damages my machine?
Every hire carries a deposit hold and a damage waiver, and the check-out and return photos give you a timestamped record of condition to claim against.
